Research Activities Organised:

Research Committee was established in 2009 to promote, facilitate and monitor research activities.

We are regularly organizing research events for the benefit of students and faculty.

One Day National Symposium on Research Projects

Proposal and Grants on 15th September 2017- A remarkable One Day National Symposium was organised by SRKI sponsored by DST and GUJCOST at TIFAC-CORE Hall. The aim was to enable academicians and research scholars as well as researchers to design, write, plan & budget a promising research proposal according to international standards. The renowned experts were:

•Rakesh K Sharma-Honorary Secretary, Royal Society of Chemistry (London), North India Sector, Coordinator, GCNC, University of Delhi.

•Dr Krishna Kanth Pulicherla- Scientist C, Technology Development Transfer, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi.

•Satynarayan V. Nandury- Chief Scientist, Business Development Group Head, Environment Engineering & Fossil fuels, CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad.

•Gopal Jee Gopal, Assistant Professor, C.G. Bhakta Institute of Biotechnology, Uka Tarsadia University, Baradoli.

Guest lecture On Scientometrics, Journal Ranking and Peer Review Process 18th February 2017 

An outstanding guest lecture was organised by research committee of SRKI on Scientometrics, Journal Ranking and Peer Review Process. The event was honoured by our guest Dr. Vijay Kothari , Asst. Prof., Institute of Science , Nirma University.  About 100 M.Phill , Ph.D research scholars and M.Sc dissertation students had been endowed with enormous Knowledge about journal ranking system and publications.

One Day State Level Symposium On Research

Writing, Publication &   Analysis on 03rd October 2015-We arranged one day symposium inviting team of experts from renowned institutes with rich research background. They delivered lectures on research writing, publication and data analysis while citing the importance of publishing quality research output in reputed journals. The event was sponsored by Dr. Kusumben Desai Educational Trust in collaboration with Dr. C.M. Desai Research Center, P.T.Sc. College Campus, Surat at TIFAC Hall, TIFAC CORE SCET. The eminent resource person and their expert lectures were likewise:

•Gaurang Rami (Professor, Dept. of Economics, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat): presented his expert lecture on “Research Paper Writing for Publication in National and International Journal”. He elaborated on various aspects and components of a good research paper and also shared his experiences as an editor of couple of research journals of international repute.

•Swati Patel (Assistant Professor, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, SMIMER, Surat): took the participants onto the journey of statistical techniques in her talk on “Use of Statistical Techniques in Research” and distinctly showcased each one of them with appropriate and relevant application.

•Pankaj Thakor (Professor, Dept. of Physics, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat): enlightened the participants onto various measures and metrics used by international research community to measure the effectiveness and impact of research during  the talk on the topic “Scientometrices & Digital Existence of Scientist(s): Methodology, Myth(s) and Reality”.

•Chinmayi Joshi  (Institute of Science, Nirma University, Ahmedabad): put forth a sample research onto validity and relevance of Scientometrices in reality. This event was participated by about 220 participants from 17 different institutes. The target participants of the symposium were academicians and research scholars from the various fields: Sciences / Engineering / Computer Science and Application/Education.

Orientation of Research Students 2015-16 and Ph.D Research Students presentations 7th February 2015

The orientation programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Pratibha Desai, Chairperson, research committee, followed by introduction of 2015-16 registered M.Phil and Ph.D research students. Then Dr. Lalita Choudhary, Coordinator, RC, gave the presentation, updating the students of the activities of RC, research facilities, library resources, code of practice in research. After that, former students shared their experiences. Later, 2014-15 Ph.D students gave a brief presentation of their work done till date. Dr. Manisha Shah conducted the programme in an organized manner.

National Symposium on “Entrepreneurship in Microbial Technology & Computer Science (EMTCS-2013) & 2nd National Level Poster Competition on Applied Sciences & Technology on 9th & 10th February, 2013 

Looking at this need of an hour, we organized a two days National Symposium on “Entrepreneurship in Microbial Technology & Computer Science (EMTCS-2013) & 2ndNational Level Poster Competition on Applied Sciences & Technology on 9th & 10thFebruary, 2013 with Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry-SGCCI, Surat at seminar hall of SGCCI. The main theme and focus of the symposium was to inculcate the entrepreneurial skills and to explore areas of opportunities for entrepreneurship in relevant subject. The Symposium was inaugurated by 1st Vice-Chaiman of SES & President of the function Mr. Kashyap Mehta in presence of Chief guest of the function Dean – Faculty of Computer Science, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Dr. Apruva Desai, President of SGCCI, Surat – Mr. Paresh Patel, Chairman of Computer Science in SRKI – Mr. S. P. Gandhi and Director of SRKI-Dr. P. B. Desai.

Out of these two days symposium, the first day was dedicated to Microbial Technology and allied subjects. Four distinguished and eminent speakers shared their wisdom onto various aspects of the themed subjects. On the second day also, five experts delivered their talks onto various entrepreneurship aspects relevant to Computer Science and Applied Sciences. About 200 participants participated on 1st day of the symposium whereas on 2nd day of symposium, about 150 participants participated.

Along with the national Symposium, 2nd National Level Poster Competition on Applied Sciences and Technology was organized in research and non-research categories. The symposium was concluded with the valedictory function on 10th February, 2013. The winner of the poster competitions were awarded with prices by the dignitaries during the valedictory function.

Orientation and welcome of 2013-2014 research students on 9th August 2013

The major objective of this orientation programme was to make the students aware of the rules and regulations of the institute as well as research facilities available. The students were introduced to the committee members and there was an interaction between the old students and the newcomers. The director madam stressed the importance of dedication to one’s research and the need to have proper planning before taking up and implementing the work.

National Conference On “Advanced Trends in Applied Sciences and Technology” on 27th & 28th January, 2012

 On the occasion of centennial celebration of Sarvajanik Education Society, we organized National Conference on ‘Advanced Trends in Applied Sciences and Technology’ on 27th & 28th January, 2012. The conference included oral and poster presentation of papers based on twelve themes : (1) Microbial & Medical Science (2) Plant Science & Plant Biotechnology (3) Mathematical Science (4) Animal Science & Animal Biotechnology (5) Biochemical Science & Bioprocess Technology (6) Marine & Aquatic Science (7) Environment Science & Engineering (8) Chemical Science & Technology (9) Social Science (10) Computer Science & Bioinformatics, Chemiformatics (11) Applied Physics & Material Sciences (12) ICT in Education.

In the course of two days, 241 participants from various cities shared their knowledge on various disciplines of science and technology. There were seven different technical sessions, which started with an invited talk by the subject experts. The addresses by both the expert scientists were really inspiring for the delegates. 74 oral presentations were given in these sessions, 36 research and non-research posters were also presented. Best posters were awarded. Ninety Nine selected papers have been published in the proceeding with ISBN No. 978-81-923514-07.The conference was inaugurated on 27th January by Sh. Ashit Gandhi, second Vice-President of Sarvajanik Education Society (President of Function), Sh. Arjanbhai Dholakia, Sh. Ramkrishna Export (Chief Guest) & Sh. Ramesh Almaula, Alarsin Pharma (Guest of Honour). The valedictory function of the conference on 28th January, 2012 was presided by Sh. Harshad Shah, Vice-Chancellor of Children’s University (President of Function), Dr. C. N. Desai, Ex.GM., Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology (Chief Guest), Sh. Sanjay Desai,  Sr. Syndicate Member, VNSGU (Guest of Honour). The conference was successfully organized by the support of Dr. K. R Desai & Sh. Kamlesh Yagnik (Chairman-SRKI). The chairman of SES Sh. Rameshchandra Shah, first vice-chairman Sh. Kashyap Mehta and director of SRKI Dr Pratibha Desai patronized the whole event.

First state level workshop on ‘Research Methodology’ on 4th April, 2011

We organized our first state level workshop on ‘Research Methodology’, where six eminent speakers shared their knowledge of various aspects of research with the delegates. Keynote speaker: Mr. I.L. Mistry, Chief General Manager, KRIBHCO, Surat. The esteemed resource persons were Dr. Kiran Pandya, VNSGU, Surat, Dr. Mukesh Javeri, SVNIT, Surat, Dr. Bankim Patel, SRIMCA, Bardoli, Dr. Arti Rajyaguru, VNSGU, Surat, Dr. M.V. Rao, Gujarat University, Ahmadabad.

Undergraduate in-house minor research projects presentations of microbiology and computer science students on 18th August 2009-  The institute had organized ‘Summer Under Graduate Research Presentations’ as a part of “Dashabdi” celebration on 18th August 2009. The purpose of the activity was to give an idea about various areas where students can work and apply their knowledge. With the aim of creating an inclination towards research, the T.Y. B.Sc. students of microbiology and computer science were given various topics to work on.

The microbiology students were divided in groups and were guided by faculty members i.e. Dr. Lalita Choudhary, Ms. Bhargavi Bergi, Dr. Ratna Trivedi, Ms. Anjana Ghelani and Dr. Toral Desai. The analysis of soil, water and milk was carried out by collecting samples from various places. Each group was given an opportunity to demonstrate their work. These demonstrations were judged by Dr. Mohini Ghadia (Head, Department of Aquatic Biology, VNSGU) and Dr. K.R.Desai (Former-Head, Department of Chemistry, VNSGU) who gave their views after the end of the presentations.

Similarly computer science students were guided by Mr. Jayesh Pushtiwala, Ms. Priti Patel and Ms. Kinjan Chauhan on various topics ranging from Computer Networks to Network Security, developments in the field of Computer Graphics and Robotics. The students presentations were judged by Mr. Bintu Kadhiwala(senior lecturer at SCET) and Mr. Shailesh Chaudhary (senior lecturer in M.Sc.(IT) programme at VNSGU). Students were awarded first and second prizes.

Guest Lectures on 18th September 2009

The guest lectures were organized as a part of Dashabdi celebration of the institute. The esteemed guests were: Dr C. N. Desai, Ex. Director , BARC,  Dr. N. Sivaprasad, Sr.GM, BRIT, Dept. of Atomic Energy .Dr. N. Sivaprasad delivered lectures on “Radiotracer Application in Biosciences” and “Radiopharmaceuticals and its application in Medicine”.
