Chemistry has often been referred to as “The Central Science”. Knowledge of the properties and behavior of atoms and molecules is crucial to our understanding of medicine, biological systems, neuroscience, nanotechnology and environmental science The Chemistry Department offers courses in the traditional major areas of chemistry, as well as in interdisciplinary areas, such as biochemistry, analytical chemistry etc.The Department of the Chemistry was established at the inception of B Sc microbiology course. The rapidly developing fields of Biotechnology, Microbiology and Environmental Science need a student with a strong foundation in Chemistry.So chemistry is taught as one of the subject in all these courses.
To develop student talent in order to make a difference in these areas,the Chemistry Department provides students with an excellent, comprehensive education of the principles of chemistry, including a rich laboratory experience within the curriculum.
The Chemistry Lab is well equipped with all the facilities required for the working of students.It has analytical based instruments like pH meter, colorimeter, conductometer, polarimeter, dipital balance.
